Bird Box by Josh Malerman

This book was strange!

Book Facts: this book was originally published in May 2014 by Ecco. I’m not sure who mine was by but it was a library edition on my Overdrive App. The only reason I picked this up is because I could get it on there. It didn’t pull me enough to go out and buy it. It’s 262 pages long, I read it in about 4 hours so it’s a nice easy read. This book has a 3.98 rating on goodreads presently, I’m giving it 3.5 stars that I’ll round up to 4 on the site.

Review: You know when you don’t know how to feel about a book? I liked this book but I didn’t love it and it didn’t make me excited. Similarly I didn’t hate this book because it didn’t evoke any feelings anywhere near that strong. It was ok.

The book opens with a strong sense of the film The Happening. This whole book is just a disorientation of past thoughts and current events. And if this sounds vague, imagine reading the book and still not really understanding what’s happening.

I think this book was a unique idea. I think it was written well. I think that it ended fucking shitterly and the writer should write a sequel to explain to me what the fuck is going on.

In conclusion, kinda creepy, kind of interesting, mainly confusing.

Thanks for reading 🙂
